Janice Mathews-Gordon

Through my abstract acrylic paintings, I capture aspects of our common human experience. Sometimes my paintings reflect personal journeys. Other times, they serve as broader social commentary. Always, my paintings represent some facet or quality of our humanness: an idea, an emotion, a concept, a train-of-thought. And evident in all is my extensive graphic design background, influencing my compositions and bold color arrangements.

This recent abstract series reflects my concern about the deep divides in our country. Compelling and timely, these paintings are visual interpretations of our current fractured political climate as well as our shared aspirations for our democracy.
