Sharing Your Art On Social Media

Sharing Your Art on Social Media

While it may seem like a no brainer to share your art with the world, this doesn’t come easily to everyone.

Artwork is personal and perhaps can seem too private to share, especially via social media. However, sharing your artwork online opens you up to a world of possibilities.

Why Share Your Art

Use it to Build Your Brand

Use your social media profile to build your brand. People are often curious about the artist behind the screen, and this allows you to introduce yourself to the world. While your profiles will mostly showcase your art, people enjoy learning more about you as an artist as well.

Additionally, building popularity through social media can also increase the value of your art.

It’s Free Marketing

Social media is free marketing. Allowing your art to be accessed by the masses on various platforms allows thousands of eyes to view your work for free. All you have to do is create an account. Many artists that began to tentatively sell their work on applications like Facebook and Instagram have been able to make a stable income.

Get in Touch With Like-Minded People

One of the social benefits of sharing your artwork online is attracting other like-minded people. Social media is a space to connect with people from all around the world, and it’s a free way to network.

You no longer have to try and hunt down someone’s email and hope that your invitation to grab a cup of coffee doesn’t come across the wrong way. A few positive comments left on a page or a kind direct message has resulted in hundreds of friendships.

How to Make the Best of Social Media

Although there are various photo-sharing applications out there, you may be wondering how to make the best of social media. One app that is now used by artists worldwide is Instagram.

Use Instagram to the Full

We can’t praise Instagram enough as a platform to share your artwork. It’s become a place where selfies and some of the most stunning landscape photos you’ll ever see can live in harmony. Use this to your advantage. Millions of people use Instagram to pass the time, so why not show them something worth their while?

Many artists have found the new(er) function of Instagram Carousels to be instrumental in sharing several pieces at once. For example, illustrations and comic content creators have used these to showcase multiple panels in a single post.

You can also use them to show the various stages and changes that a piece of art went through. People get to see the behind the scenes processes that result in a finished piece, so don’t be shy!

Instagram Stories are also a great way to connect with users over your artwork. The newer function of IG TV and IG Live has basically knocked down the last wall that was left. Now you have the ability to go live and let people see your creative process as it happens.

You can even use your stories to show sneak previews of upcoming artwork or just to have a simple Q&A with inquiring minds.
